Useful web links

I though we could use this thread to post useful links that may be of interest to others, so if you put a link in one of your posts please copy it to here as well.

I think we should keep them in categories rather than have a whole load of random posts.......I'm sure it will work itself out.

I'm hoping that people popping in for a flying visit do not abuse the thread and use it for advertising........... if they do the links will be removed as will anything considered inappropriate.

Lets see how things go :)

This has come home from Morgen's Special School today.

It is for a performance of 'Blue' by the Oily Cart Company
which has been created for those with ASD aged 3-19yrs. It being performed at schools and other venues.

Morgen is making blue bags to put her favourite thing in and dressing up as a rail worker for the performance at her school.

For those with communication & language problems this is another way for our children to communicate through the Picture Exchange Communication System.

Hi guys.

I've been monitoring this forum for some time now. I believe I've posted an introduction at some point in history.
I'm the father of an autistic child. I'm a web developer by trade, and although there are many great resources such as this online these days, I've decided to launch my own project devoted to the understanding of autism and I'd like to invite you all to join us.

I'm working closely with my sons school, which is of course a special needs school. I aim to bring many people with links to autism into the new community. That may be parents and carers, along with autistic people and health professionals.

If you're visiting now, please keep in mind that the project has just been launched this morning, and your input is vital to the overall development of the project.

www.autismboards.co.uk

I look forward to meeting you all there.

Just got this link from another web site, it may be useful to some of you :)

www.radar-shop.org.uk

Its where you can buy a key for the Disabled toilets that are kept locked. There is a small charge for the key to cover costs. This could be useful if you have an older boy and he does not want to go into the ladies toilets, or to avoid a queue :) I've ordered a key as it will be good to be able to change Charlotte's nappies in privacy now she is getting older but it has not arrived yet so do not have any more feedback. I've also ordered a book that tells you where all the toilets are situated, thought this might come in handy if we go anywhere new.

Alternative communication aids can enhance a childs speech.
They offer a free consultation prior to assessment, If you child has speech but it is very unclear and you feel that your speech and language therapist isnt giving you a good service it may be worth a visit.

Just started my team teach training and this is something that everyone has a right to read. Its quite lengthy so you may want to print it off.

Nothing to do with autism particularly but may come in useful for our tiny tots

This is a site where whatever button your baby/toddler presses, the comp does something, whether it is music or noises.
